The listing, ?????Mystery Coin????? has ended.

Well, here ya go! I got this off Listia a couple of years ago, figuring I'd take the time to figure out exactly what it is. Yeah....right!

I still have NO idea what it is. It's what you see, in a gold tinted metal. Nothing else I can say about it.

Maybe someone else would like to take the time and trouble to research it.

The weird thing is, I know what is coin is with out researching. It is a 1849 Mormon Coin.

They should be made of gold. Most likely you have the replica. The brass replicas weigh about 8 grams. The correct weight for this piece is 14.3 grams.

The only scale I have is a postal scale. It weighs .4 ounces. I don't know what that equates to in grams. It really doesn't look like brass, though. Thanks for the info.

Not Mormon. Good Shepard Lutheran Church Panama City (GSLCPC). Should be able to get information on the coin off the web.

Yes it's a replica of the 1849 Mormon $20 gold piece. They sell these at Mormon museums and historical site gift shops in Utah. The initials stand for, Great Salt Lake City Pure Gold.
