Description

The listing, RARE and extinct in the wild. The Amazing and beautiful Banana Lotus. Seed Auction GIN extras has ended.

This auction is for 5 very special and rare seeds!

GIN bonus:

You will receive 15 seeds(at least) already in the soil they need. They have been cold stored and are ready to go. You will also receive some special gifts. Perfume, eyeshadow and lip-gloss small sets :) DON'T FORGET I always send extra seeds. At least a few other vegetable seeds and some flower seeds. Or I will add another 5 Banana Lotus seeds for you! I want you to love this auction and be HAPPY!!

As a result of intense agriculture, the natural habitat of Ensete lasiocarpa has become highly fragmented. In fact, truly wild populations are unknown, which is why the species may have to be classified as 'Extinct in the Wild'. The remaining populations are considered to be 'semi-wild' ones. These populations are maintained only through cultivation, thanks to the cultural and economic significance of this species to local people.

With its inflorescence resembling a lotus flower in bud and lasting up to 250 days, the golden lotus banana has become a sacred plant of Buddhist monks in the tropical region of Yunnan.

Help me repopulate these. They are worshipped by the monks for a reason :) They are amazing. They have 100 uses and are beautiful. I believe the most amazing plant in the world.

These seeds can take up to 6 months to sprout. Yes 6 months. I have never ever heard of it taking that long, but that is what I have heard from several people.

These are cold hardy to zone 5. They make great house plants also. They need lots of sun and water. If you live someplace where their is a winter they will die down and then come back in the spring. If it is always warm, well then they just keep growing. They can reach 5 feet tall :)

It absolutely cracks me up how unintelligent people can be. Yes animals on the endangered species list are against the laws to own...this is totally different and does not even fall under the same guidelines! You can see some animals that are on the list in places like large zoo's and the plants as well. BUT a plant is not an animal and it has not yet been listed as endangered! If you can read then there is hope for you to become educated! If worried write the name down google it and find out the truth. This seller is absolutely educated in fact VERY educated on this plant. So why do so many people ask such dumb questions. It baffles me at the comments I find on so many auctions and all they have to do is not type but READ! Try it sometime. You will be amazed at how smart you could be! Now to the owner...I apologize to the owner and I am sorry for going off I just get so tired of all the crazy comments when all they had to do is read!!! LoL Forgive my ranting please!
Happy Night :)

Do you think these would do good in ohio

Ohio has very cold winters. I am in NY. However with A LOT of mulching in the fall the roots should stay alive just fine and grow back in the spring. Mine always do

Do you plant one or two seeds together?
Mar 8th, 2014 at 7:04:50 PM PST by
Original
I plant one per spot in my seed tray indoors. I suggest you germinate these before planting them and then plant them seperatly. IF you plant outdoors I do 3 per spot :)

I'm in Colorado in a 5b zone. Would you recommend keeping these inside here or outside?
Mar 8th, 2014 at 10:30:32 AM PST by
Original
I would start them indoors. I have not heard anything about Colorado. I do know they are quit cold hardy. It was negative 15 here this year. I mulch them very heavy in the fall and they always come back. I would start them indoors and maybe try putting one outside in a year or two. Or just got for it with one seed and plant it outside. I would start indoors though. Although if you did put one in the dirt the change of seasons would help them cold strat and you might get a stronger plant.

Do these get bananas or is it just a flowering plant
Mar 7th, 2014 at 8:17:28 AM PST by
Original
They do not get bananas. They do have a fruit inside. They do eat it in china. However it must be prepared a certain way. Therefore it is safer to say it is not edible.
