Oriental cabbage. This attractive, easy-to-grow, hardy Asian variety produces a thick rosette of dark green, nutritious oval leaves which have a creamy texture, and a mild but distinctive flavour that makes them perfect for eating raw or cooked whether in salads, stir fries or in soups. 25 seeds.
Leaves form a compact, thick rosette. Long harvest period. Mild flavor for salads, stir-fries, etc. Thin to 6-8" apart for full-sized rosettes. Unique and easy to grow. NOTE: Suitable for late spring through autumn sowing. Spring sowings should be made after last frost date to eliminate risk of premature bolting.
Sow from early spring through midsummer. In the South, greens are well adapted to fall plantings. For full-sized bunching, sow 15 seeds/ft., 1/4" deep in 2" wide bands in rows 18" apart. Most varieties do not require thinning. See catalog descriptions for varieties that do. Harvest before flowering. For baby-leaf, sow a 2" to 4" wide band at 60 seeds/ft. Clip young leaves when 3-6" tall.
