Well listed on ebay and the community watch kicked it off saying it was an altered coin. If you look at the 1 it appears to have some marks aound it but didn't think a whole lot about it. I pulled this out of a 5000 coin bag, did the the seller just throw that in to yank my chain? So i have been up,down,up,down. What to do now?

One way to fake a 1914-D is by altering the date of a 1944-D. If you remove part of the first "4", you can make it look like a "1". Here are a few ways you can tell if your 1914-D is really a 1944-D. so looks altered am sorry but I showed the pic to a coin dealer he said it was not a real 1914 D

I saw it the day that you listed and it is definitely not legit...even if they did a better job on the grinding and left no marks....note the heighth of the first number 1 compared to the second (fake) number 1...that second number one is actually a number 4 that is altered....it is too tall...a very common altered coin...both number 1's should be the exact same height (like your 15d)...it is second only to the 1922 (no D)...to find in a big bag. Rather than dealers just throwing these in the trash where they belong....they take the 1.5 cents for them and mix them back in the wheatie bag...

I would say to keep the auction on, but say that sellers should bid at their own risk - i say this because if you can't sell it on ebay, this is probably the only place you can sell it.

HAHA FatTony you are something else, I about flipped the same wig you did on that first comment, I am sure it is real as I have dealt with this person a few times and know her to be honest, I did enlarge the picture to be sure and tell if it was real and it appeared to be, I am so geeked up to say the least about it being on Listia and know that the seller knows her stuff. I think you and I both agree this is a crazy but great auction! THANK YOU CLOSETCASH and FATTONY FOR THE GREAT DAY! This is going to be a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuun auction to say the least~!
