The listing, Only 100 made! 2005 Throwback Threads WLADIMIR BALENTIEN Rookie! - Set Japanese Home Run Record has ended.
This is a 2005 Donruss Throwback Threads "Gold Century Proof" for outfielder WLADIMIR BALENTIEN of the Seattle Mariners.
This is Balentien's rookie card.
There were only 100 of this card made.
This one is serial numbered #048/100.
In 2013, Wladimir Balentien broke legendary Japanese slugger Sadaharu Oh's single season home run record when he connected for 60 home runs, breaking Oh's record of 55. Oh, who is kinown for holding the world professional baseball home run record with 858 home runs in 22 Japanese seasons (which bests even Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Barry Bonds US totals) is famously name-dropped in the Beastie Boys song "Hey Ladies" ... I wonder if anyone will ever immortalize Balentien in a similar manner.
