Select a planting spot in the garden that receives full sun throughout the growing season and has well-drained soil. Choose a planting date after daytime temperatures have been above 70 degrees Fahrenheit consistently for at least a week and the soil is warmed.

Draw a shallow trench, 1 inch deep, down the center of the row with the edge of a garden hoe or the tip of a garden trowel.

Set the purple-hull pea seeds in the trench, leaving a 5-inch space between each seed. Gently cover the seeded trench with dirt and tamp down firmly by hand or with the back of the hoe.

Water the newly planted seeds with a garden nozzle set to spray or a watering can. Soak the entire row until the top 2 inches of soil are moist. Keep the soil moist by watering again every two to three days until the seedlings emerge and the first set of leaves emerge.

Lots hate shellin peas but I LOVE them purple fingers and takes me Back thinking bout when my grandmothers were all still here .... Sitting n shellin purple hulls with them , sittin with one if them bushel baskets in our laps :) thank you for bringing me some much needed memories :)

place them in water in a pot with a little bacon and boil them put in salt and pepper or any other seasonings you like in peas maybe a little Tony's cook until done, make you some corn bread and crumble it up in the bowl or plate and spoon on some peas on top with the juice and there you go a yummy meal lol :)
