I don't use glue on mine, i drop them on tacky top coat, let dry and top with a couple of top coats, they hold just fine, don't want to cut paper thin or they curl up, posterboard is a good thickness.

Slice them thinly with razor blade or razor knife, add glue or nail glue and Apply:)
