The listing, 6 beautiful Postcards of Horses(Elgin Marbles) from the British Museum has ended.

6 Lovely Postcards of the Elgin Marbles- The head of the horse is "The Horse Of Selene" from the Parthenon in Greece (Lord Elgin found these sculptures while doing an archaeological dig and took them back to the British Museum where they have been very well preserved and taken care of, but the Greek Govt.. has fought to get them returned, sadly because the Porch of Maidens has been so badly destroyed in the same yrs. being left in Greece, it's very hard to make a good case for their return, though I do believe Greece won at least the right to exhibit them on a partial basis , as I recall. The Selene Horse was carved in about 438-432 BC !! Amazing, right?? It is one of my altime favorite horse sculptures! The other was part of a Quadriga of horses that originally were attached to a chariot on top of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. It is incedible how well preserved these pieces still are!! And it gives us great insight into early Greek culture and how truly advanced they were in every way!

Pretty post cards, although it shouldn't be a hard case to win, as the Elgin marbles were basically stolen. They should be returned rightfully so - don't ya think ? lol!

TY , Yes i agree they were stolen, but I do think they would have not been cared for properly, so legally , yes they should be returned! But for their safe care , it would be better if Greece agreed to let them stay where they are (in the long run the point it to keep them safe! It's kind of like a baby who was kidnapped from a mother who was leaving her outside in the rain with no food or blanket(it's just a comparison! Lol!) .The kidnapper on the other hand , fed the baby well, kept her inside, nice warm bed,, nice home. A good mother would say,"You keep my baby!!The baby is what is important here!" (Right? Haha!) But the Judge has a problem , legally the baby belongs to bad mom. (Maybe Greece could trade for an "English Baby" ?? Or maybe some cash compensation? (I wonder if Lord Elgin left some money behind? I am sure his family wouldn't be thrilled but maybe that would be the right thing to do, it was he who stole the Elgin Marbles , afterall , so maybe "bad Mom ,Greece" should get paid for the theft? I know even the best lawyers haven't resolved this issue , far as I know. (Though I am not up on the subject , I will see if it was settled(seems to me I read Greece has "visitation" rights, Haha!!
