The listing, Anne Klein/Armitron/Hamlin/&Paua Watches!! has ended.
4 watches, AS IS, not working , but might just need batteries. Similar Armitron watches go for $50 to $80 new. As do the Anne Klein watches.Hamlin watches go for $100 and up but this one is quite worn, on the back and the crystal is scratched(the gold on the front is ok, but it does need a bit of spiffing up). New a Hamlin like this could be $200 to $500 ! The Paua Shell watch is gold plated, , has some mild corrosion, I this could be removed, with 2 small Paua hearts and 2 large ones, and the face is Paua Shell also . There is no indication of where it is from or who made it, but I noticed a Paua store online had watches something like it , made in New Zealand(I know I've seen another watch like this before, maybe on Listia, I don't remember) The closest I can come range(used from $10 to $100) but none were as pretty as this! Paua Shell is the same as Abalone, and is now rare, in some places endangered(california, I believe has placed it on the endangered list) so pretty soon , it will be very rare because Abalone is dependent on certain conditions and food to survive. The white Abalone, and Pinto Abalone are extremly close to extinction , during the 1870's hundreds of thousands of Abalone were harvested over 7 yrs, which brought the population to near zero. Since then the few remaining survivors are too far apart to mate , leaving only a tiny handful left. This is indeed a rarity, collectible now like ivory. In the 1970's the Abalone nearly made a return but was so quickly removed (one might have found fifty thousand live animals then. They were further reduced to almost none. (I;m guessing this watch is from the 1970's. In other countries like Australia and the Phillipines where Abalone is a staple diet, hatcheries are using new technology to save them. But the conditions and diet of these shellfish doesn't look good due to human pollution and destruction of their natural habitat.
