The listing, 33 New Orleans elongated pennies zinc has ended.
Hello! You are bidding on 33 different New Orleans elongated ("smashed") pennies, pressed on zinc, not copper, pennies. I pressed these when I started smashing pennies but before I learned that collectors usually prefer them pressed on copper (pre-1982) pennies. If you don't mind them being on zinc, you will have a nice collection of pennies from New Orleans :D
thanks! I had just went through my NO penny stash and THOUGHT I had the LCM pennies, so just used my image of them on flickr. But then I went to get them and found out they weren't there. O_o I may put some more sets up but I have so many going right now I'm going to wait.
When i first started i didn't know to put them on Copper either. My collection is small & most is from here in Washington state & Oregon, then a trip to California. I'm right by Mount Saint Helens (45 min drive up Spirit lake Hwy) & we go there a lot so i always get the new ones from there. These are great, I use to collect Fenton glass But this is WAY cheaper! lol
I got hooked on pennies back in the summer of 2007 when I drove to DC. I went to Mayfield Dairy (in TN) and they had a machine AND a penny book that had pennycollector.com on the back :D That was all I needed, a website that told me about where penny machines could be found. Didn't know about copper and zinc pennies back then, so most (if not all) of the pennies I collected on my trip were zincs.
Yup! My first ones came from a 2004 trip to Ripleys Believe It or Not & The Wax Museum from Lincoln city Oregon & I also got my first Penny passport then and GOT HOOKED! I'm so excited too see how high these will go in the last few minutes! I got some SERIOUS competition (You know who you are "G.C." ) {{wink}} ;) and i know she's just waiting to pounce all over my bids at the last sec...lol, But i think some friendly comp. just makes it funner & you do have a gr8 collection! If i do win, AWESOME & if some1 else does GR8 for them & they deserve the win....but whom ever does will be VERY HAPPY!
Since the auction has gotten up to 5050(!), I am adding more new pennies: the Sci-port pennies I had on another auction. I can't add a pic tho since the auction is almost finished. If you find me on facebook I can show you what they look like :D
Great collection! I have over 450 elongated pennies & NOT 1 from New Orleans & Louisiana! This is a GR8 addition to ANYONE'S collection who like me, is unable to go to these places themselves & press them. I didn't see any but there aren't repeats in this lot is there? Too bad there not Copper but all to cool none the less! Thanks 4 giving all of us this opportunity to have a piece of your state! <3
I have them in copper but I would sell them in much smaller lots than this one, since copper ones are worth more. I used to do heavy collecting back in 2007-09 and have ALMOST all the ones in Louisiana. :D
Me to! I think you will be surprised how high these jump! I'm sure they will even go out of my range but i sure had fun with this auction & congrats to the lucky winner!
Its all you Chewiedog & others! I'm tapped out :) lol, Enjoy! Beautiful collection, I KNEW they would go high! Oh, and 20,000 different designs! Whew man! Im in baby steps still! lol, That's quite an impressive collection & so many cool places & things to remember! Way to go!<3
