Anything the usb cord plugs into laptop or desktop the item should work regardless of what you plug it into. if it doesnt work when plugged in then its no good.

If this were a standard USB plug, then I would be inclined to agree, but it's not. As stated before, this is NOT a USB external drive. This is a non proprietary type that fits certain Dell laptops. Like it says in the desp. bid at your own risk.
