Untested as I do not have XBL , looks to be in good physical condition.

Maybe I've asked this before: my sons controller is wireless, so all he has to finis plug this into the controller but nothing into the console, correct?

I have never used one before but that seems to be the idea, I think you need an Xbox live subscription, I'd double check by googling it if I were you. Thanks for checking it out.
