The listing, Hollyhock Seeds*Gorgeous Rich Wine*60-80*Plant Now has ended.

Wow! These will get attention and make all your neighbors envious!

Up to 8' tall spikes of beautiful rich Burgundy/Wine flowers will add color to your garden or yard. I have them in 6 different locations on our acreage. Its awesome to see them where ever I go, even looking out the kitchen window by the garage (1st & 4th pic)! Last 2 pics are last year, 6/24 & 6/28/13.

Easy to grow, plant now for blooms next year!
Our most popular flower seeds
Plant in the spring or fall and cover with leaves, straw, grass clippings, or mulch in cold areas.
Perfect along a fence, house, garage, or retaining wall.
Seem to be slightly drought tollerant, I do not water them very often.
Usually do not need staking unless there are very strong winds. We have strong winds in NE, so I left some volunteer trees to help them. A customer asked about a trellis. It would be great behind them, but not a necessity. You can tie the tall stalks to it.

Hollyhocks are fairly short~lived, I have heard around 3 years, so be sure to scatter some seeds every year to make sure they never stop. They will also drop some seeds naturally.

The first picture was taken in May, and I took the picture of the single flower 7/23. Really windy that day, and I had to bend the stalk down to get a picture, it is so tall.

The flowers and leaves are edible, to decorate cakes, add to salads, etc. We never use chemicals in our gardens.

The lucky winner will receive 60 seeds.
80 seeds for GIN!.

Those are beautiful! Do you know if they would do well in the heat and humidity of the south?

It sure sounds like they do very well accorning to this forum: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/south/msg051311273719.html?9
Here's one of the quotes from Zone 9b, posted May 10, 2005 (her's bloomed second year from May to ?).
"Hey ya'll,
I posted a while back about growing hollyhock I received
in a seed trade. This is the second year so I figured
they'd bloom. Well not only did they bloom but they
exceeded my wildest expectations. They may surrender
come August when the heat is at it's highest but
they're beautiful now. I've posted some pictures to
inspire ya'll to try your own. Go to the garden update album for the latest pictures from May 9th. Have a wonderful day. Brenda Harvey, LA"

You may want to plant them in partial shade in the south, and you may need to stake them. There is a whole page of happy Hollyhock growers:)
