Description

The listing, • Tektite • Meteorite Rock • Natural Glass • Crystal Mineral • BEADS/ Pendants • has ended.

Here's your chance to win something that originated in outer space!

The winner will receive the 3 Tektite mineral rocks photographed (1st photo they are at the bottom). The last photos show the glassy semi-translucent deep brown color it has in bright light. Otherwise, Tektite looks black.

The 3 Tektite beads/ pendants have small drilled holes through the top. The holes will easily accommodate beading wire, or thin jump rings, not leather cord. Make a set of earrings and necklace, or just put them somewhere in your home to enjoy (the holes are small ann blend into the natural texture). A wire wrapped Tektite would look very cool (wish I could wire wrap better).

Tektite is a natural glass formed from a meteorite impact melting local rock.

Tektite is among the "driest" of rocks, with a water content of about 0.005%. This is very unusual because most of the craters where Tektite formed was underwater before impact.

Tektite can help to enhance/ accelerate healing from illness and injuries.

All Listia rules are abided by.

F/W Really desirable. My husband and I both wire art. He is a lineman, so he works with the big wires 10 hours a day. He had no problem picking it up. I started wire art and beading years ago as therapy for my hands. 17 years ago I became quadriplegic from MS. The doctors told my family and husband I needed to be put in a nursing home. I told them don't count on it. They said they were sorry, they wish I could be healed by miracle, but that was not going to happen. My husband took me home and our oldest daughter, Susan, a CNA took care of me while my husband worked. I prayed to God to give me the "guts" to deal with whatever I had to. Then one day a finger on my left hand twitched. I started concentrating on making it work. Piece by piece, with our daughter Susan helping me with therapy, I regained all of my upper body. Our youngest daughter was hospitalized the same time I was in the hospital. I asked my husband what her diagnosis was. He said Giioma brain cancer. As soon as I heard Glioma, I knew we were going to lose Katrina. I begged God to leave her and take me. She had just started college and blacked out. They airlifted her to a Seattle hospital. She held on through brain surgery, radiation and chemo for 2 years. Finally she said "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired." Soon after God chose her. Three years ago we lost our oldest daughter, Susan from a massive heart attack. We Pray that our 3 sons will remain beyond our years. Anyway, jewelry, gemstones and diamonds became a passion for me. My husband has never left my side and always helps me and watches me when I use a torch. I don't know how much healing the different rocks actually do, but I do know certain rocks have a calming and relaxing affect when I work with them. I only list finished wire art or necklaces, bracelets and earrings on Listia. It is a great bartering site. Keep listing rough when you have it or stones like your tektite.

Thank you! I made several with different colored seed beads for a more casual look, but I could see the larger of the 3 wire wrapped.

That is AWESOME! I became interested in rocks about 10 years ago. If I would have known how cool and amazing rocks were I would have chosen a different career. It sure makes for a fun hobby though and I will take that any day.

Your description of textite is spot on. Some of you out there may be familiar with moldavite. Well, it is a pretty green and guess what it is. Yep . . . Sure enough.
Apr 3rd, 2014 at 7:30:37 AM PDT by
Original
Thanks! Moldavite is 1 of my favs! Moldavite is only found in 1 location in the world- Chech Republic with a limited supply. I caution buying Tektite and Moldavite from an unknown source because there are many fakes coming from China. Identify genuine Tektite by holding it to light. Internal flaws (grooves/ lines) will be visible. Hold Moldavite to light and internal swirls will be visible.

I have an interest in tektite..I have over 30 pcs. I will be putting up of rough tektite actually rougher than what you have.. Yours look smooth (ie tumbled).
Apr 7th, 2014 at 12:27:54 PM PDT by
Original
Yes- the 3 being auctioned are for jewelry making, etc (including the entire bag of Tektite beads in the background of some of the photograph).. I have found some very unusual rocks years ago in New Mexico- I think they are meteorite type rocks. I like the unique :) I have several Tektites that are much larger and "rough" also.
