Why wait years for a bottlebrush tree seeds to germinate and grow?

This is a Bottlebrush tree or Callistemon. It's a spectacular evergreen tree or shrub. You can either grow it to be a large tree or train to be a small bush or hedge.

Clippings from a red Callistemon bottlebrush tree. They were planted in 1928 on this particular property in Los Angeles.

They're quite hardy and can be grown in a container or dug up each season to take indoors.

It's from the Myrtaceae family,drought tolerant and pretty much grows itself. Bees and humming birds absolutely love them.

They're well known as Callistemon or Bottlebrush Tree and some folks call them Australian or New Zealand Christmas trees. They loves warmth and sun and are considered an heirloom plant. They'll live to be an old age.

You will receive (3) 6" cutting from one of my very own bottle brush trees. They date to 1928. Seeds take forever to grow.

Cutting will be dipped in rooting hormone, placed in zip lock freezer back. Simply push two inches into potting container or ground.

If planting outside, wait until ground temperature is at least 65F. Keep soil moist.

*Bottlebrush trees are beautiful, unusual and simply fun.
Keep brush and bottle brush to throw in fireplace. They have a lovely ever green aroma.

It is an evergreen tree and will grow just fine in zones 8 and 9. It grows well in the US sunbelt. In snowbound regions, it should be first planted in a pot and taken indoors as like a shed or garage. Some folks actually use them as bonsai.

You know the red bottle brush is actually a flower and bees and hummingbirds love it. I think it's the colour that attracts them. These cuttings are coming from a red Callistemon 'bottle brush' tree.
