My friend from china send me this string of pearls. i believe they are man-made pearls. very pretty but i don't like to wear pearls. superstition! free shipping.

These are probably freshwater pearls, which are "man made" because they place a bit of sand in the oyster, then let it grow, but otherwise they are natural. Freshwater pearls are not round, they vary in shape. Not as valuable as "real" cultured pearls that are round and consistent sizes, but still nice ... great for re-beading!

I've seen the process on TV.They don't even kill the oyster,they let it make more.These are beautiful

i have a fav. one with fresh water pearls. thea are odd shape. i thought freshwater pearls were aways a different shape. very nice.

The other pearl necklace I got for my mother was 14" and didn't know it was that short. 17" would work better. I will give other one to my niece as it didn't fit me either. Thanks for showing and God bless.
