Very nice collection. Especially interested in 1912 coin, the year my father was born. I am 70 years old and if my father were living, he would be 96. F&W Thanks!

Thanks! I am nearly in same shoes. My Mom was born in 1912 and my father in 1909. I think all the time about their birth years and what they went through to raise us kids. Times were tough for them and they sacrificed more than I ever did raising my kids. Welcome! Fanned you!!

I have a V nickel for the year in which my mother was born, which was 1920. If I can win this bid and get these coins, it will have made my day. You and I must be related, because I grew up the same as you! Don't you think it made us better people for the hardships we had to endure during those years? That was a time when families were really close, not like it is today with everyone in the family going here and there, no more family time. no more sitting down together at the supper table, thanking God for what we had to eat, regardless of what it was, eating together, and then talking after supper I miss those times when manners were taught when asking for food, not boarding house reach like kids do today, reaching and grabbing. That still goes against the grain! I bet we could come up with thales of our yourth that would cause some of these kids today to sit up and take notice!! Sorry, the ramblings of an old man!! LOL Take care. Jim

Hope you do win these. I can relate with everything you say about family. Seems like kids just have way too much technology to screw up their heads. We had one tv growing up and it stayed off when we ate a meal. Every Sunday was an entire family get together. Those days will always be cherished. Me and my siblings did not expect a lot of money or gifts, but when they came it was such a momentous joy. My family was not exactly poor, but our parents did not think it was right to just give us money and gifts to consummate their love for us. We knew that without getting gifts or money. Seems it was a simpler time when we knew what was right and what was wrong. I tried to instill much of what I learned into my kids and I am proud of them today. There are no instruction manuals for raising kids. Now who is rambling? Good Luck and you take care Jim.
