it is used but still in box i used for approx. 3 months.

It can be used as a contract but i used it as a pay as you go cause i didn't want to be locked into a contract.i bought this outright, for $97.00, and they had 3 different pay as you go options i could choose from.i like it but i only used it when we went to the biker events in the summer not gonna use it this year cause there is just to much stuff going on at these events.

so i can use this anywhere that has wireless or wifi or whatever? i just dont understand these.. if i bring my laptop to a friends house i can use this to get on their internet? can i use it anywhere?

Yeah you can use this anywere as long as you have a provider (verizon,at&t, etc.) i used it for three months on a pay as you go program through verizon cost me like $39 month

If you want to use this anywhere that has wireless or wifi or whatever for free, get a regular usb wireless adapter thingy. cause this one works like a cellphone and needs verizon paid service.

If you DO NOT have internet service, you can pay Verizon money every month and connect to the internet, with this device.
If you just want to go to Starbucks, or a friends house and connect to their wifi, this WILL NOT do that !!
