Description

The listing, Woven Copper fabric! Uncut sheet fine Copper Wire Mesh (16 x 20) - arts crafts jewelry, etc. has ended.

I bought this woven metal fabric several years ago (2002) And haven't used it yet. So now it's up for grabs.

It is available online from various places for around $14.00 plus shipping...

It's in excellent unused condition, though the package is a little worn.

100% pure copper fine wire (80 mesh woven) fabric, for jewelry making, book arts, fiber arts, fine art, ornaments, even metal origami!

Versatile! Sews like cloth, cuts with plain old scissors. Emboss it, bead it, bend it, fold it (easily), deconstruct it! Soooo Many possibilities! (some example projects in the last 3 pictures.)

This WireMesh sheet by AMACO Paragona measures: 16" by 20" inches

It's one (folded) sheet you can cut into whatever sizes or shapes you like.

Do you think this could this be shaped, covered with ceramic material, glazed and fired?
(to hold very thin-wall structural/sculptural shapes)

i don't think so since the melting point of copper is 1984.32 F and ceramic firing under most circumstances exceeds this temperature. Even most low fire ceramics goes to about 2000 F. The lowest low fire (cone 09) goes to 1700, but those clay bodies which are low fired typically do not warp or sag anyway. Interesting suggestion though. Perhaps it could be used in polymer clay applications. ;)

Thank you! I kept thinking i would make it into Artist Trading Card bases. But then I wasn't inspired to do anything to it. I hope someone out there has high aspirations for this material. It IS gorgeous....

Very interesting piece! I remember a jewelry made of this - used it as based for embroidery.

Definitely embroider-able! This is very cool stuff, if you are a fiber artist!

For book arts too? Does it say that on the package?

It doesn't specifically say that, but I can imagine you could definitely use it in book arts - and to great effect. (The photo of the journals seems to suggest book usage.)
And since it's sewable, handbinding could definitely work. ;)

I'd like to try photograms on a scanner/copier through that weave - the potential for Moiré experimentation seems high! Good price, too!!!!!

That's a great idea! (If you have access to the photography equipment)
