Description

The listing, Intel Digital Microscope, Inspect coins like never before has ended.

I was reading the comments on an auction of the wonderful collector and Listia member FatTony1329, (I don't think he's at all fat), and someone mentioned they picked up an intel microscope to use in his coin collecting hobby. I remembered I had one of these in storage that I no longer used. I had used it to inspect some mechanical parts I produced that needed to be absolutely perfect. I dug it out the other day, tested it, perfect, and here it is. It truly is an amazing tool. It has 3 magnification setting, 10, 60, 200. It will add lighting from the top, bottom, or both. It can be removed from the microscope stand if you want to inspect things that will not fit under a microscope. I did not find the original disc for it, but I had no trouble downloading all the needed software from the INTEL website. I know as a fact it runs beautifully on Windows XP, I would bet it will also run perfect on all versions of Windows, after all it's an Intel product.
This tool is a lot more useful then just to inspect items like coins and currency. If you remember from high school biology under 200 magnification you can also watch living cells do what living cells do.
You will also be able to take still digital pics and amazing digital movies with this microscope.
I have never used the "buy it now" feature, but I thought this might be a good time to try it. All things considered, I honestly believe 20,000 points is a bargain for this hard to find high quality item. Normally I do not list anything but very small items(because shipping is so high) but I feel this is just too useful to just continue to be stored and not used, and I would like to contribute and add to the caliber of auctions here on Listia. Free Shipping as always.

Thank you for checking out my auction, and good luck !!

Hello Listia lovers. Gettin' down to the wire. I've been very anxious to see where this one ends. Not too late to do the "buy it now" that will guarantee you do not get sniped at the last minute. Has happened to me too many times. Tell ya what, if it goes with the "buy it now" I will throw in one silver US coin, not a Morgan, but something to add to your hoard. You see where silver briefly hit $42 last night.!! Stuff is on fire !! All the conspiracy people gettin' ready for doomsday !! Anyway, I will get this out to the winner very promptly after the end of the auction. I will pack it well, and it will have tracking confirmation Don't get shut out, Listia's countdown is sometimes very inaccurate. Good Luck !!

She only took the second one so he wouldn't have to hear himself yelling, LOL. Very considerate of her, I think!

Old proverb, be careful of what you wish for. This innocent looking dog is a world class troublemaker !! Here's an example. She's 12 now, but I'll tell ya how our relationship began. When I first got her, maybe 3 lbs. I would drop her off at my dad's house while I was at work. While my dad watched tv, her favorite spot was lying on his chest, nice and cozy. Couple days after I got her. the 2 of them were in their favorite spots. My dad noticed here chewing on something. He took it out of her mouth. She snagged my dad's $3000 hearing aid, and crunched it up !! Well dad was furious for few days and Jody was persistent Few days later my dad finally let her back up on his chest. Everything was great again, both in their favorite spots. My dad looks down at Jody. You guessed it, she got the other hearing aid !!! Ya think there was some yellin' ?? She always would win back ya heart, but that was just the beginning !!.

yup, just shows you how little I know. Can't believe there were no takers on my offer. oh well, guess I don't get what I was hoping to bid on. Listia is so hard to predict how an auction will do. need more members. I really hope this auction does well, it's gonna cost me a few bucks just to ship it. Would prefer to stay a head of the game maybe just a little.

yeah, I may be wrong, but I can't imagine this offer does not get snagged. silver coins on here alone go for quite a few thousand points, and I think microscope is easily worth the 20 by itself. but, we'll find out i guess. I'll be bummed if I sell the coins and I don't win what i'm after. I really hate to part with silver coins. is really only thing i collect now, and i don't have that many. oh well, got to do what i got to do.

I think I'm going to pass on shipping to Canada, sorry. This is not a slip in an envelope item and my doing free shipping in USA without any guarantees on final price is about as risky as I want to go. If you have a friend in USA that will ship it to you, you could send it there. Best I can suggest, sorry..

Wow, I never saw anything like this to inspect coins :), will you ship towards Canada too?

I thought that would be the case. It didn't seem to me that Intel would leave anyone hangin' on their very own product. Thank you !! Yeah, it really is a cool little tool, just I have not used it in long time and figured let someone else enjoy it. Incredible easy to use too. Just like regular microscope, turn it on, set the lens you want, and dial the focus. good luck !!

Heres another update: I've been searching around and if you go to Intel.com and put in INTEL Play QX3 USB Computer Microscope you can down load free the drivers for all OS types. Yes even windows 7. This is a reaaly cool item and would be great for any one that collect coins and/or stamps. Good lauck all.

Great Auction: Here is another alternative that may work also. all computer since Windows Xp have a program called Compatibility Wizard. This will enable the use of older programs prior to XP to be ran on XP, Vista, and Window7.
To start the Program Compatibility Wizard, click Start, click Help and Support, click Find compatible hardware and software and then, under See Also in the navigation pane, click Program Compatibility Wizard.
This isn't a gaurantee solution, but it has work for me on most older programs I have need to run.

terrific !! never knew this existed. Personally I am very happy with my xp and probably will not change for a long time. I run a CNC 4 axis milling machine off my computer and frankly, when it comes to that thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it !! but this fix would seem great for a lot of people. Thank you for mentioning.

Just want to let everyone know, if you win this you will need to be running windows XP or earlier for an Operating System in order to download the software and for it to work. I haven't used mine yet because I have Windows Vista but there is a solution. If you can get your hands on a copy of XP or an earlier OS. It is possible to run 2 OS on your computer and when you want to use the microscope you just shut down your system and when you start up use the other OS. It's not a big deal I've been told and hopefully my system will be set up before this auction ends so I can tell y'all how it works. This is a great microscope and if you have kids it's really a great tool for those science projects they can't think of what to on. You can actually not only take and save digital images to your computer, but actually save it as a movie. Go take some pond water or something like that and start rolling. If you have a good media program you can then add music, write a script and let your child narrate your movie. Then send them back to Science class with a disc instead of a diorama and a bunch of poster board :) If thats not an A+ I don't know what is. My 12 year old son is very, very anxious for me to get that bootleg copy of XP :)

Thanks for the input tony !! i am surprised that it does not run on vista, but if you say it does not I believe you. Good idea on running the duel op systems. I completely agree with your assessment of it's usefulness. I remember taking college biology and they would have been thrilled to have this technology in the classroom back then. I have looked at coins with this tool using the 60 power and it really is amazing. If you know how to grade coins it makes it so much easier to just look at the monitor instead of sticking a loupe to your eye.
