Description

The listing, Digital Voice Recorder with USB and software has ended.

The auction is for an Olympus VN-3100PC digital voice recorder complete with USB cable and all software required to transfer recordings from the unit to your PC for safe storage, editing and listening. I used this recorder throughout my college career and it still works great but no longer have a use for it now that I have my degree. The software provided is from the Olympus website and includes the core software, a software update for running on newer windows systems and 64 bit driver. The files have been tested as virus free when tested with Norton Utilities and will include instructions for installation. I have used this recorder and software on windows XP, windows 7 and Windows 8.1 without issue. The last pic is a screen shot of the software running on my Win 8.1 system.

Just to be clear, does it turn on and run properly? Are there any problems with recording or playback?

No issues at all, the recorder works great. I tested it prior to posting, it records, transfers and plays back as it should.

Yes, you can use it standalone and play back the recordings without the computer. The computer just makes it convenient for storing your recordings.

The recorder is about 5-6 yrs old, I got it to help me when I couldn't keep up with taking notes in class. The recorder has never been dropped or misused and with it being a digital recorder there are no moving parts to wear out. In the pic of the software screen shot you can see the date when the recording was made and next to it is when it was transferred to my pc showing that it works as it should. I honestly debated getting rid of it because it still worked so well but ultimately realized it would go to waste sitting in a box.

Not sure on the actual memory size is but I do know that on the lowest quality setting (used with a mic for dictation) you can record upwards of 70 hours and on the highest quality setting (I used for classroom recordings) you get a little shy of 6 hours of recording time. The recorder is preset with 4 different folders so that you can separate recorded subjects (perfect for multiple classes).

Since it is so close to the auction end I cannot add updates but I figured that I'd post the actual recording times. This info is from the manufacturer's website regarding this unit.
