Hello everyone, are you ready for more auctions? Because I have a lot more in store for you!

Shall we get started?
This is an auction for a curious rose pin I found in my jewelry hunting travels recently. I originally grabbed it, added it to the pile and was on my way for nothing more then it being a beautiful pin. My pins do rather well, so I figured what the heck? Let's grab it! Upon returning home and examining it against my authentic 1900's Pre-ban carved ivory necklace that I received from my great grandmother I noticed that the organic patterns in the ivory seemed to match up with the pin. Granted the color is a lot whiter then the yellowed necklace I hold in my hands...but I attribute the yellowing and age of the necklace to my grandmother constantly wearing it day in and day out. Most curious of all the carving of the roses petals are IDENTICAL to the carving of the rose beads in the necklace. The pin's petals are a lot glossier, which could give hint to it being a Celluloid reproduction. But to my understanding the bone like "veining" in the material could give hint to ivory. To make matters short and sweet, I have no actual proof WHAT this is, but have a small idea what it COULD be! I hope some of you experienced Listians can lend a hand, and possibly win a beautiful gem like this for yourself! TO clarify there are no stamps on this, I am unsure if the leaves and stem are actual gold but am 99% sure they are not basing off gut instincts.

Please make sure to stop by my other auctions and take a peek. I have something for everyone!

I have a small jewelry shop where I sell estate sale - vintage costume jewelry. It does look like the ivory I have, but it was probably sold in a jewelry store - not dept. Store. I have a few pins similar, the detail to the metalwork is very similar. I remember see ing these in jewelry stores in the '60's. It is probably a gold plated pin. Very detailed and not typical of an average dept. Store. I have a few almost identical except they have carved coral and jade , rose buds and leaves set in gold plate.

That is absolutely wonderful thank you for sharing, I tested the flower with a hot needle and the needle didn't do anything so I am now more then confident that this is in fact real...which is FANTASTIC! There is a great deal of fine detailing in the leaves of the pin, even the stem has tiny etchings at the base :) I am so happy to hear all of this thank you! I would really love to chat with you more as you know a considerable amount about vintage jewelry ^_^ I have been trying to identify two brooches that I had found. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Schreiner brooches? I have two, one of which is a trembler and I have been dying to know more. I can't find photos or even descriptions anywhere online to help point me in the right direction, they are signed however! If you are familiar with the designer I would love to pick your brain if that's ok ^_^ Drop me a message if you are interested ^_^

Try heating a needle if the needle goes in it's celluloid if not it's bone or ivory that is the easiest way too test it

Thank you for this tip. I am pretty sure I did this right and...IT DIDN'T GO IN! It didn't even make a dent or mark, I heated it up until it was bright red and gently touched it to the back and nothing happened, it didn't indent or mark or anything! WOW!
