Description

The listing, Om Mani Padme Hum Prayer Pendant, Tibetan Buddhism has ended.

This is a metal pendant with the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra (prayer) stamped on it.
Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum, out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect -- it is often carved into objects, like this pendant, and placed where people can see them.
I have another one that is similar to this one listed, so please check out my other auctions. Happy Bidding :)

Do you know what type of metal this is? I have sensitive skin, and some metals cause an allergic reaction. It's also hard to tell whether the pendant is silver- or gold-hued from the pictures. I'd love a description; the pendant is beautiful, and I've been looking for a nice piece of jewelry with this inscription. Thanks!

It is silver, not gold. I am not sure, but I am almost 100% positive it is NOT sterling silver. It definetally is not plated, though, because it is a heavy/solid piece. Do you know if you are allergic to nickel? If you have an allergic reaction to certain metals it might be a nickel allergy...in which case I don't know if I would recommend this to you or not. it is by no means a cheap piece, but not knowing what it is made of makes me nervous. I hope this helps!

Thanks for responding so quickly! The information is very helpful. I was hoping you'd say it was a silver pendant since I prefer silver to gold.

Knowing that it's a solid piece, it would be heavy enough to wear on a long cord or chain so that it doesn't touch my skin in case I would have a reaction (you're right; I am allergic to nickel). Thanks again!

I didn't even think of wearing it longer so your clothes could protect your skin...good thinking LOL!
