Here is a classic cookbook, The New York Times Cookbook by Craig Claiborne in 1961. Craig 
Claiborne was one of the best known food writers of the time, the others being Julia Child and James Beard. This was his first and most popular book. 

Inside the dust cover reads, "The New York Times Cookbook is the first quality cook book for daily use in the home kitchen. In 717 pages it gives nearly 1,500 recipes for all occasions, selected from more than 10,000 that have appeared in the New York Times, and prepared and tested by the Times food staff and kitchens. It is beautifully illustrated with 16 pages in full color and 133 black and white photographs, many of which accompany the recipes and cooking procedures."

Some recipes to try (according to reviewers of the book) "The Hamburger Potato Roll recipe is worth the cost of the book" "I made my wedding cake from the Nova Scotia fruitcake recipe. It's the best. And the recipe for Kourambiedes is sheer perfection." "It has the best ceasar salad recipe in the whole world."

From the preface - This book is a collection of nearly 1500 selected recipes that appeared in the pages of The New York Times between 1950 and 1960.

The book is in good condition. No rips or tears or missing pages. No writing in the book. The dust jacket has a few small tears. The book has some creased pages, see the last photo to see. For a book from 1961, it looks hardly used. There are no signs of use. No stains, etc.
