Description

The listing, New Bidder ✿ MYSTERY HEIRLOOM TOMATO ✿ 15 seeds ✿ My Choice has ended.

This is a special "new bidder" auction targeted to members of a contest that I am hosting in my garden group. This is to introduce new members to bidding on Listia and help them gain experience. I have a HUGE collection of numerous heirloom tomato varieties. This is for one mystery variety, but you will know the name when it arrives, as it will have the cultivar name right on the packet that I send. I have an incredible rainbow of colors, shapes, and sizes to offer. It can be anything from A to Z. Amish Paste to Zhefen Short, that is. Most of the tomatoes that I grow are indeterminate, which means that they produce over the whole season. They will most likely benefit from some type of trellis or tomato cage. If you enjoy a mystery or are new to bidding, this auction is for you! Anyone can bid though, as I do not discriminate. This listing is open for all to bid.

Days: 70-85
Size: Indeterminate or Determinate
Color: Yellow, Red, Black, Orange, Bi-Colors
Season: Early to Late Season
Type: OP Heirloom (cherry, grape, paste, beefsteaks)
Uses: snacking, salads, canning, paste, juice, salsa

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my garden. They will be labeled with cultivar name. They will be sent First Class mail for FREE. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 70°F in the spring. Excellent for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Stake or cage the plants for support and to prevent sprawling on the ground.

Well, they won't be super rare. I had to buy them at one time, but I do not get any of my heirloom plants from stores anyway. I buy from reputable organic suppliers. Many stores sell the hybrid plants. You should be happy. :)

Me to I'm tired of the ''green'' tomatoes from the store that have NO flavor...an ready for the weather to get perfect...I live in Arkansas an have a lot of tomatoes and peppers started that I ordered from Bakers Creek a ''Heirloom Seed Co.'' An when it isn't raining we have frost...all I grow is heirlooms.. but not good weather for peppers an tomatoes

I like Baker Creek. Not all their tomato seeds are heirlooms though. They have a large amount of artisan tomatoes created by breeders.
