The listing, Vintage Elegant Silver "Ribbon-like" Design Pin/Pendant has ended.

Hello everyone, are you ready for more auctions? Because I have a lot more in store for you!

Shall we get started?
This is an auction for a curious Pin/Pendant. I say pendant because the way the metal loops around at the top, it almost looks like a space to thread a chain without taking away from the elegant sweeping design of the piece. I am unsure of whether it is real silver or not, it is very polished and well taken care of. There are no scuffs, discoloration, missing gems or any imperfections really! An outstanding piece for anyone's collection! The design features beautiful white rhinestones inlaid in the ribbons of silver, with a bouquet of light sapphire gems. There are no maker's marks, which is curious because this pin is very unique in design!

Could you draw a rectangle around the piece and give me a measure, max width and length, millimeters would be nice. Sometimes pieces were made as samples, by venders to showcase skills, supply, quality of work; to perspective Jewelry Houses, Chain Stores, even minor lines in Big Name Stores. If ok'ed they could be made up with real stones for final approval, orders of 1000 per store for holidays like Mother's Day. These were not meant to be sold and usually were scraped, or the employee could take 'His/Her' work with them to a new job, like a resume. You have heard tell of salesmens samples, Vintage LANE Miniature Cedar Chest here on Listia now is one such object. Everything like furniture, ice boxes, ironing boards, Flex Steel Couches; these were carted around the US by countless salesmen to small town stores and individuals in remote areas. They had all their working parts, lockable, trays, gears, real works of art and craftsmanship. By Gone Days and Their Ways. Today we mach one up on the iPad for instant customer approval, change the gem color in two shakes of a lambs tail, and email the order to Tenn. I believe you have a Jeweler's Sample. Any Pawn Shop can test the metal, probably Silver, durability, gems intact,; not the cheap metal of costume pieces. Production could have been in White Gold for final selling items, and they would have been marked. There should be initials though from the metal smith/ jeweler/designer.

WOW! Thank you for all of this excellent information, I measured the piece like you asked, it is 62mm in length and 23mm in height. I hope that helps, I am going out tomorrow and will try and bring it with me to get it tested. There are no maker's marks or marks of any kind on this. I have gone over it well, it would be outstanding if this truly was a jeweler's sample!

Unless they are hidden well; but this is one of the reasons it could be a 'sample'. Everything sold has marks. Please let me know how the investigation came out.

I am so sorry, I actually didn't get a chance to make it to the jeweler. A flu-like illness has been going around my place of work and I have been a little under the weather this week. Do you know of any ways I could possibly test this at home? As far as markings, I collect and list a lot of signed jewelry and am pretty good at finding any markings. I have gone over, and over this item to come up with no markings. However, if it is a sample as you suggested...it wouldn't have markings right?

Not trying to sound like you don't know what you are doing....but did you look in the curves of the top of the two parts of the bows that curve under into the back?
