These are pretty cool. They were slotted so that they could only work in the phones and not get passed as local coins. I have some from Israel and France. I will be watching but unfortunately not enough Credits right now to try and bid

I thought it was cool as well. That is the only one I had. Not sure why they don't use them in the USA before cell phones.

The reason these were not used in the USA before ell phones was that using this token in Italy would get you the entire phone call for 1 token and here in the USA, the phone companies were greedy even way back then, and knew they could get more out of you by charging a hourly rate on phone calls. That and nobody was really interested in buying a token that could only be used for a phone call and nothing else.

Takens have been use for many of years as guarantee money for the companies that had them made. Once you buy a token that can only be used for that compamy it is money in there pocket. And it only cost about 5 cent to make the token yeat most place charge you about 25 cent depending on how many you buy. Just look at chuck e cheese. Grate idea that still works. Just like the 99 cent idea

if you look up the Italian phone tokens by the number on it, it will give you a rough date of manufacturer.
