Actually a token would mean it has or had value at one time for something. This is a Medal similar to the bicentennial Medals the US did in 1975 - 1977. Some time medal (coins) will be minted to commemorate a date or celebration. To actually be a coin it needs to be supported, minted and currency of a soveriegn nation at the tiem of minting. (That the easiest and simpliest definition) A token is something of temporary value and only at a specific location or establishment. Tokens are usually given to encourage commerence with the establishment listed. All other items are technically medals even though they may be called tokens or coins.
