Description

The listing, 3 WILD LEEK BULBS Allium tricoccum has ended.

It's that time of year for wild leeks! The ones I'm offering are the very first this year, they are small but the bulbs are more round than in these pictures because they are just emerging. Later on the bulbs thin down because they put their energy into growing roots. When you receive them, plant them right away OR cut the roots off and plant them then eat the bulbs!
They need shaded damp area but not to plant in water just close to damp area would be fine and do not plant around black walnut trees.

MUST HAVE address from winner within 3 days for this or leeks will be reauctioned.

That sounds so good!
I make once a year a leek stew (about 1-2 cups of leeks) with dumpling topping (with a cup of chopped leeks in dough)that cooks on top of the stew. That takes 3 days to cook (refridge at night then cook during the day into night) I'm getting pretty hungry for that to! I just love leeks! The old wives tale is, if you eat leeks (wild) 3 days in a row, your healthy for the year and I do believe there is some truth to that. Last year my cravings for them were not as strong (first time in many years) as usual so I didn't eat as many and this year is the first I've suffered aliments but this spring the cravings are back! LOL I will see how it goes this time around.

They are fantastic if you like garlic/onions. I should be outside today harvesting them for myself but hate the idea of climbing a steep hill to find them in this rain. Common sunshine and warmer weather!

Thanks for giving us a chance to grow these. Do the spread on their own?

Ever since I seen the movie "Unleashed" I have been making this wonderful delight. Discovered Wal-mart sells them in unknown veggies section, just discovered the little green tomatillo make wonderful green sauce and fried green tomatoes! Year round!

Wal-Mart sells the wild leeks? That would be a plus! But I don't know if the leeks can become "unwild" in taste if they are treated like a veggie plant. I would like to test that out....I will plant some in my garden area for next year and do a taste test.
