Description

The listing, CHARMS- VINTAGE **GOLDEN BABY SHOES** FROM THE 1960'S has ended.

This is a sweet vintage double charm from the 1960's..
Dangling from a jump ring is a pair of cute golden baby shoes.
they are 5/8" long and 1/4" wide
The shoe charms are textured and have great detail..
The charms in themselves are in great condition however the pearls have lost their luster and need to be seen if the pearls can be restored...

The underside is stamped S C and the only thing I could find on that stamp was sarah coventry used this stamp after 1953...
I do not know what metal was used but a magnet will not stick to them so am thinking maybe copper or brass but dont really need any cleaning..
These are a mystery to me :))

Never the less they are still quite cute and in amazing condition ....

Thanks for stopping by and
as always good luck in your auctions and biddings...:))

~~ Fan me I fan back ~~

Are the pearls real? Rub on your teeth, if griddy, their real. If smooth they are plastic. Thank you. Fanned.

F&W! If you have any mineral oil try soaking and rubbing them with the mineral oil. It will return them to their original luster. I use it all the time for pearls and my Mother of Pearl rings, and they are definitely beautiful and shimmery. These charms are awesome! I'm going to keep my eye on them. :-) Good luck to all!

I'd be willing to bet they are. Fake pearls don't look like that. They always look new and shiny. Happy Easter.

It is not a shadow, but a flash reflection off the smooth polished surfaces. You can try: Point the camera slightly angled away from the item, catching their image still in center frame. Turn on all the lights, even in daytime, behind you, and to the side. These two tricks should give you a less startled pic form a flash.

I could not find any info on HOB CO.your baby shoes are identical to the ones on the braclet.and I clearly see the mark on your baby shoes, but the info I have says nothing about a mark on them.so Im thinking this could be a necklace charm that could have been with a set of jewelry,it might not have come off of the braclet at all.

im sure there are many people looking out for this charm because it came from a very lovely braclet from the 1950s,it featured a gold lobster with red rinestone eyes, gold heart locket w/large blue rinestone, gold charm w/opal marked g.f on back,an iridescent rinestone charm,of course baby shoes w/pearls,a cat charm marked HOB CO. which is the largest, golden horse, golden heart w/pearl in middle,a mustard seed charm, and a large mother of pearl square.braclet measured 7 3/4 inches long.hoped this helped.ill be watching this one..

Oh My Gosh! These are beautiful! In the first picture, it looks as if the fronts of shoes have blue enamel? I don't see it in the others? Also, I am on the phone app, so it's hard to tell. Was it a reflection, the blue? Thanks!!

Pearls are a natural porous material. Anything above warm! mild ! soapy(like a little hair shampoo) & water can damage the surface, set the stain, or make the surface become pitted ruining them. It is best to take them to a jeweler who will Gladly clean them for free, while you browse his displays. They like seeing this stuff too. No ultra sonic cleaners either. No Perfume, D.O.,hair spray, make up, lip stick....always last on and first off. Keeping them in a little pouch or cotton lined box will keep them from scratches rubbing w/other stuff in a jewelry box and clean.

Mineral Oil = Baby Oil, To positively check pearls, with out damaging the natural surface(can be scratched by anything harder, chipped by force); magnify where they are strung, look for a knot between each pearl, it is work they don't waste on imitation. Also look w/magnification at the holes where they are strung, you will notice a thin layer of the coating applied to imitations, whereas real freshwater pearls will show an even continuous building up of the layers. There maybe differences in color one layer to the next as this is caused by impurities in the water that the creatures live in and what they eat. Holding the flashlight behind the pearl will give a good view of the layers which you will not see in imitations. When the pearls are mounted, you can use the smallest of drops of reg. Acetone fingernail polish at the base where it sits. Let this rest a minute. Now get your nail under the bottom edge and try to bring the pearl up off the peg. You can now examine it and assume the other is the same or check it also. They can be put back with some more clear polish on just the peg, make sure they are pushed completely down on the peg, but don't rock as you can snap the peg off. Let sit 24 hrs.
