These are good for making a connection to several different items without taking up the limited outputs on your laptop. Plus, you can disconnect and take the laptop with you, then still plug it back in when you're back.
This item requires a Dell Power Adapter Model PA-10. (not included), depending on laptop model, sometimes the adapter is the same as your laptop power cord.
