Questions & Comments
I did a little research, and these very well can be Lucite. To have them tested may damage the bracelet and cost and time is more than what I want to spend. I'm going to update the auction and leave it up to the bidders. I do think they are Lucite because the Orange one is transparent and that was something I found online. Still considered vintage bit I found that Bakelite is older. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! It bothers me that I bought these and told they were one thing and more than likely something else. I wouldn't have cared I bought them cause I liked them. But for a collector that's not cool, and I don't want to mislead anybody. So thanks again for getting my brain stirring!
I bought these a few years back at a antique gift shop and was told they were bakelite. How do I have them tested? Thanks for bringing this to my attention and I do appreciate the help. I don't want to misrepresent anything I list.
Yes, simichrome is the only 99% positive test. But lemon juice and hot water work, as well as rubbing til they get warm and smelling them. Thank you, Cardinal2. it is hard to get Simichrome local, for me, so I ordered a small tube online.
rasmussenhouse, it happened to me too, the first few times. Then I educated myself on bakelite, lucite, early plastic and celluloid and all there differences. It is fine, they are nice. I am glad we made sure though. Great auction.
