The listing, Heirloom Pepper ✽ BIRDS EYE GROVE ✽ 10 Seeds ✽ Organic has ended.
These peppers are so named because in years past they grew between the trees in the citrus groves in Florida apparently planted by passing birds. The grove workers and pickers deliberately left the plants in the groves (rather than weed them out) and used them for cooking. They are a perfect seasoning for chili, pickling, relishes, salsa, pico de gallo and making your own hot pepper sauce. Light yellow-green peppers turn from orange to red, but do not need to be fully ripe to harvest. They are one of the only hot peppers that are moist & juicy, just like tabasco peppers. Tall plants are disease resistant and drought tolerant. Hot (5,000 to 30,000 Scoville Units)

This Auction: You will be receiving 10 seeds from my garden. They will be sent First Class mail. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 70°F in the spring of 2013. Excellent for beginners!
Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
