nice....any idea what mm the diameter is? thx!
Mar 8th, 2010 at 8:12:31 PM PST by
Original
They are plump, I'd say 3 to 4 mm. I should've turned on to the side in my ruler photo, but they are probably about 6mm long, and 3 mm wide. You might be able to get a better idea by looking at my last photo. The beads next to it are amber nuggets, probably 4-5 mm wide, so the silver bead is probably about 3 mm. These sterling beads are large enough NOT to go slide through into the larger holes of some porcelain beads I've had. Hope that helps!

thx for the info -- (I am a jewelry maker too!) Would you say there may be around 100 beads? Also, is there a "seam" on the bead or are they smooth the whole way around? thx!
Mar 9th, 2010 at 7:59:31 AM PST by
Original
They are smooth, I don't think they would have a seam unless they were plated. I'd have to guess about 100, maybe more. I couldn't flatten them out in the bag and count the rows, and now I have packed them to take with me on my trip, so I can ship to the winner next week. They also are heavy, as sterling should be, solid, not hollow except for the hole. I think you would be pleased with these beads!

Jewelryfreak, also, they have a bit of a brushed finish, not real smooth and shiny like the silver-plated rounds you usually see.

thx! I am new to listia (just found it this week) and am already addicted! I haven't bid on anything yet, but will be placing my bid for these. I need to list some stuff to get more credits. Hope to do that in the next few weeks! This is fun!!! Have a wonderful vacation! :o)

It's mega fun and quite addictive. I've been working like a dog for the past month, but have won several high-end electronics (30gb and 60gb Ipods, a Tivo, and a ton of high-end jewelry). Once I started looking for things to sell on Listia, small enough for free shipping, it's like the stuff just started raining down! If you have any collections of things you don't use or display any more, think about putting them on Listia. And, free shipping gets you LOTS of bids ... seems crazy but you get it back when you win things.

well, I tried, but have been "outbid"....at least I raised the credits a little bit more for you! I doubt that I can get anything listed & sold by the time this auction ends :(((

I just listed a bunch of stuff, 10-day auctions ending a week from Friday, and will list more ending Saturday and Sunday that weekend. Plenty of time to get some auctions sold and shipped! You can list for any number of days, from 3 to 10. Try listing auctions that end on the weekends, at night. That's the best time to end them.

lost the unakite stone beads. Had to get dinner on the table and then I checked and (o_0) outbidded. Oh well, maybe next time. I did get one set of fetishes and the first bag of beads. That I am happy with. =) Need to start listing my items for the coming week's auctions. Don't want to get outbidded again =P Talk to you soon and have a safe trip.

Yes, I saw that. I keep rootin' for you, but you keep missing the ends of the auctions! The listings I put on tonight will end a week from Friday, and will end later in the evening, so maybe that will help. I just get too tired to sit up late at night and list things, but tonight we had parent conferences at Jaqui's school, so didn't get home until after 8.

thanks so much for the advice! You are very sweet. I just put a couple things (perfumes) on ebay (new to that too!), now will try to concentrate on figuring out what I can list here.....

Ah, ebay. I sold antiques on ebay for five years. Loved it, but they kept changing the rules and hurting the smaller, serious sellers like me. When we moved I stopped and haven't gone back since. Got lots of stuff I should put on there too, but just don't want to. Good luck with it ... did you check to see what similar items were selling for?
Mar 9th, 2010 at 10:16:30 PM PST by
Original
yes I did check on similar items.....hope to have some luck. Looks like these beads are going to go HIGH! Good luck with them! I will be checking out more of your items....maybe even WIN something once I get my credits built up!!! :o) You have very nice items!!! Thanks for the great auctions!

Thank you so much. I wish other bead sellers would get their butt in gear and get on Listia. One or two people are listing beads, but I would LOVE to be able to win more findings. I used up all my little silver ear wires making those fish earrings. I don't normally make earrings, so didn't have a lot of them, but now I want more ... always want more beads!!!!

I know but at least I did get a few things this time. The competition is brutal towards the end of these auctions. =P I'm having fun though and I will keep trying =) Maybe next time I will not get distracted and watch the bids. LOL

I posted these later at night, which might help a lot of people. I just get so tired at night I like to get them done, sometimes takes me close to 2 hours, but I'm trying to be more efficient! Check out my new listings tonight ... I'm doing a SUPER crap lot ...

Ohhh, great! PLEASE post a comment or send me an e-mail with links to your bead listings. Do you have any findings to list?

I order my findings at Beadbabe.com. They are excellent quality!!

Thanks! I try not to spend MORE money on beads, but every time I go sniffing around the internet I find some I can't resist, but we ALWAYS need findings, don't we!

these look nice, Nancy.I need some silver beads with a hole large enough to go over 10 strands of yarn. will these work?
Mar 13th, 2010 at 9:26:35 AM PST by
Original
10 strands of knitting yarn? I doubt that very much, maybe 10 strands of needlepoint floss.

Nancy, what sort of material do you use for stringing your beads? I use ACCU-FLEX because it is super strong. It is pricey but well worth it.
Mar 13th, 2010 at 2:42:38 PM PST by
Original
I use Soft Flex, which I think is similar. I had problems with the glass beads cutting through the cheaper stuff (like Transite) but I never used Accu-flex, I don't think.
