It is a Blackberry touch screen phone. Verizon was the original carrier, however it is unlocked which means that you can use any carrier.

Yes, it does take a SIM card from whichever carrier you use. I would check with your carrier to make sure they support Blackberry plans though.

I never activated service on the Verizon network, though I did verify it thru Verizon with the following MEID # A000000DB1BE38. I briefly used this phone on a T-Mobile prepaid plan. I decided to switch back to AT&T and went to an iPhone. I discovered I was more of an Apple junkie than I thought!
