The listing, 1837 US Large Cent Penny WOW, 174 Years old, WOW has ended.

Up for your consideration is an amazing find. Probably the best find of my metal detector experience. Like my Indian heads, this was also found on the same deserted beach on the coast of Maine. It is a heavy coin, about the size of a quarter, with a great feel in your hand. This is an old coin. Coins just like this, were carried in the pockets of soldiers at the battle of Gettysburg. This coin predates the American civil war !! It is difficult to see the full date, but using a magnifying glass, you can see that it in fact is dated 1837. 174 years old, WOW !! I think this may be the oldest coin ever auctioned on Listia, it may be the oldest single item ever auctioned on Listia. This coin looks a lot better in person. The green is not as prominent as the camera makes it. A rare and valuable genuine historic American artifact. Thank-you for checking out my auction and good luck if you bid.

thank you. yes, i know it's not pristine, but when you think about it's history it makes it significant. this coin was possibly passed to the hands of some pretty important people in American history. it could have been in the hands of a signer of the constitution, or the first coin a newly freed slave ever held in his hand. makes you think, or does me anyway.

what's a tom mix ?? yeah, i found a ton of coins on that beach, all over 100 years old. all were messed up due to salt water, but still pretty good find.
