I don't believe so. Cisco products are very durable. The only reason I purchased a Motorola before was because Wal-Mart had them on hand. This Cisco modem has been awesome. I rarely had to reset it for any reason. Shoulda really kept it in case this DSL doesn't work out. I reboot that modem twice a week :/
I'm looking at a Motorola rite now with a little less time. If it's worth the wait I'll wait. I just need to get rid of this arris modem I'm paying $10.00 a month for.: /
Best bet buy a Modem/get a Cable Modem / Router in one or get a good Cable Modem and Router separate. All depends on how you want your Internet Setup. If one goes bad you can still keep the other but if the all in one goes bad well cost effective is my suggestion for sure.
Yes, the modem/router combo is pretty cost effective. Our DSL modem is a combo but the wireless on it isn't very good so I use an ASUS for the WiFi and I can go a block and a half away and still pick it up.
