The listing, ANTIQUE GLASS ROSARY BEADS has ended.
Very old rosary beads real glass! I got them from an estate sale. The writing is in Latin. In extremely good shape, no broken beads and chain is not damaged, only tarnished on the cross. An Amazing Find! There is a stamp on the back but I can't make it out.
It is not plated I assure you. It has passed the magnet test. Yes it is very tarnished! But that is all. Otherwise it is in excellent condition given the age. I hope that helped. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. As I stated earlier it is stamped but I can't make it out due to the tarnishing. I didn't want to clean it or alter it in any way. I feel that the Winner deserves the right to make those decisions. Thank you!
Just because it passed the magnet test don't mean it's not Plated. you really need to find away of reading those marks. so someone who wins knows what they are getting if it' is plated it could cause lots of problems for you and the winner too
Also I would like you to pay attention to my ORIGINAL POST! It seems to me that YOU may be trying to throw doubt upon this auction to keep others from bidding by using manipulation. I noticed that you yourself have bid and keeping others from bidding would only benefit you. Again I stand by my word!
I understand and thank you. However in order to read the stampings it would require cleaning therefore ruining the natural patina. Also due to the age it would require an electron microscope in order to enhance stamps without cleaning. So having said that I stand by my word as it is my reputation.
Hello Caradell, You have done the right thing by not cleaning the rosary. The magnet test is the best way to tell if something is plated or not. I collect rosaries and i have one like this one and to be honest you really do have a gem here. Items like this are like coins you never clean them. Some members here are just rude and mean, there is a way to talk to people and ways not to talk to people. I hope you get tons of credits for this, so keep doing what your doing, your not doing nothing wrong ! GOOD LUCK !!!
You know you could hide those comments & block annoying people from bidding on your items & if someone bids before reading, then it's their problem not yours!!! Nice rosary & you are right not to clean it. Hope you get what you want for this item. Good luck!!!
Thank you very much for your support! I thought about hiding them like you suggested but I think it's only fair that bidders know that I stand by my word and character therefore I have nothing to hide. Also they can identify which bidders to look out for! I know that most listians like yourself aren't stupid and can see through all of that and that this is truly a very valuable and rare antique. In spite of rude and misleading comments. Thanks again for your support!
Well, I am fanned and watching! And just to let all those any Sayers know....I intend to win this auction! I make glass rosaries, so I know ALOT about them, and u are so very right not to clean this rosary! It is TRUELY up to the winner as to what they want to do with it. As my endless research tells me, this rosary is greatly dated! U SIMPLY CANNOT GET GLASS BEADS LIKE THIS ANYMORE! I have seen this glass and it was earlier 1800's, as well the findings that it is created with are no longer available! But! ......the cross! .......to get ones of those, u will need to find just the right estate auction to acquire one! As they are not in existence any longer. They DID NOT KNOW, MUCH LESS HAVE PLATED AND FILLED GOLD AND SILVER during the era this was made, therefore, YOU ARE IN THE MONEY!! Lol so to speak! And like I said..... I intend to win this auction!!
Thank you! WOW! I knew that this was very old and NOT PLATED. I honestly put these rosary beads age dating back to around WWl. Thank you for your support! And to everyone Good luck and Happy Bidding!
