This ring is sterling silver. If it is kept in the plastic bag I am sending with it, the ring will not tarnish. If for some reason it is left in the air and it turns just go to Wal Mart and get a silver polishing rag give it a buff and it will be as good as new. I won't try to kid you the Emeralds are mined and not created but they are not the $5000 ones you see in the jewelry stores. They are the less wanted ones but are beautiful. This ring is about a 7 because I need an 8 to go over my knuckle and this one only goes to the kuckle. I bought this ring and 3 others from a police auction site. They are not new but sure look it.
