Description

The listing, ONE TIME ONLY Heirloom Jungle Peanuts (5) 2 Var. Heirloom Sweet Corn has ended.

GREAT FOR SURVIVAL FOOD!
Jungle peanuts Arachis hypogaea L. Heirloom Believed to be the original ancestor to the common peanut varieties. Very high in protein (26%) heart healthy oils, vitamin E and much more! Sustainable rainforest product harvested by Ashuar people from the Amazon jungle. True original form of the peanut with stripes in purple and some are all dark purple with the taste much different than regular peanuts. Earthy, with more real taste. Tests are and have been going on to show what people have said for years that these do not contain Aflatoxin (which is one cause of allergies to nuts) but research this for yourself like on Penn State Studies and research. If you are allergic to nuts use caution and common sense anyways. Offering 5 seeds
10 Heirloom Luther Hill Sweet Corn
Produces 5' stalks each stalk contains 5-6 ears and can produce side shoots with 2-5 ears each on them.
10 Heirloom Dwarf Blue Jade Sweet Corn
Beautiful deep blue corn until boiled, then it turns a lovely jade color, very sweet corn and when I grow these in containers, it always produces many several shoots off the main stem. From selling the Blue Jade online for years I want to mention to NOT harvest early before it is ready, the kernels will look white, they turn just as they are ready to harvestI Also Please do not grow both corn close by they are wind pollinated and you will not get the true variety. Start one early by 2 weeks before starting the other and that will help keep them pure. Also notice around you if others close by are growing corn, you will want to protect your corn and I start mine in containers before others have theirs planted. I no longer can do all free shipping, it became way out of reach but if you look for yourself the cost of these online PLUS your shipping, your doing very well to just pay $1 to $2 dollars and this is the only auction for these until fall.
$1.00 pay pal, if you want tracking, then please add $2.00

Since the peanuts are a rainforest crop is the growing season long enough in the US to produce a yield or are they a greenhouse start to finish type of crop? (I"m zone 6 NY)

This is my first time growing them also and so far what I've read is that it takes 100 days to produce peanuts from the tops of the stems, they will bend the vines over then the tops attach to the soil. I know they need warm weather, I'm in zone 5a but they are growing inside and doing well. They can be container grown also and I will probably do that because the weather here is way to unpredictable.

I believe you will be impressed with all the info on these sandra. I hope to grow enough to eat them, they say the taste is more earthy and deeper flavor.

I tried growing regular raw peanuts, but no luck. They just deteriorated. Hope for better luck:)

Try one or 2 peanuts in a container (with lots of room for roots) that you can control and bring inside if weather stays to cold or to much rain etc. I am experimenting doing this myself. It's almost May and we are still having 20-30 degrees.

Can the jungle peanuts be grown near another peanut or can that cross? Thanks! :)

They cross easily, it would be a good idea to not let them grow close to other varieties.
