do you know if the seeds have to stay moist (never dry out, even before planting) in order for germination to occur ? I got some seeds last year but none of them grew, they were dry when I got them, and another Listian says the seeds need to stay moist or they will not sprout. How about you? how do you handle them and do they sprout for you ? thanks for the help :)

No, usually seeds that were harvested within a year should have 95% rate of germination (providing that you germinate them correctly). When I receive seeds I usually like to leave them in a cup of water for couple days before I put in moist potting soil.

Fan and watching. I love loquat! Had a tree growing in our front yard and I loved playing outside walking by it, grabbing a handful and munching down on those sweet yummy fruits. They were refreshing and seemed to pep me up after school. Then I could join in the after school games with friends with a little more energy! They were good!

No, not those deer, they are too sweet! The deer on Vancouver Island, is supposed to be the smallest deer in the world. They are so friendly you can feed them, they will hang out in your yard etc. Thanks, have a great evening!

I am in Ontario Canada. So I am about an hours drive north of Toronto. Most of Toronto is a zone 5, but here in Barrie it is a zone 4. So I can keep some hybrid roses alive by wrapping them throughout the winter & keeping my fingers crossed! Sometimes we loose & sometimes they grow back & we win! I liked it in BC better for gardening, except where I lived it was full of deer & they would eat all your blossoms! They can even grow banana plants & palm tress in BC, I was impressed! Thanks!

Well I wish I was in that zone! I am in a zone 4, so I can't grow them here. All you lucky people get to grow them & enjoy them! Although, my friends on Vancouver Island can grow them, I will let them know about this auction. Thanks!

Do you think I can grow it indoors in a sunny spot?
Apr 27th, 2014 at 4:59:36 PM PDT by
Original
You can, but usually it is outdoor. It'll probably be a small tree. I don't know if it will fruit though. Usually the tree is about 9 feet tall.

what are the zones for growing this tree
Apr 27th, 2014 at 8:10:00 AM PDT by

I think zone 7-10 will do, although loquat is very easy to grow and doesn't require a lot. I didn't take care of it much, but it produces fruits year after year LOL

Do you grow aloe plants? They have many skin medicanal properties. I use it for sun burns and my eczema. I've never had a doctor treat my skin problems. Just my plant in my yard.

Asian people use that a lot for everything. ^_^ but I don't grow them. I have a 5 months old, so I cut down and get rid of all thorn trees at home for now. LOL just a precaution

I didn't know all the medicinal properties!! I love knowing this. A friend of mine has over 200 small trees. And I can't wait to go dig them up and plant them in my yard.
