The listing, Antique Trivet - Bless This House has ended.

Up for your consideration is an antique trivet, which is made of cast iron, & is black in color... It is very old, I personally have knowledge of the past 35 years, however, my mother had this before me, & I believe it was a wedding gift to her in 1947, prior to that I do not know, & am unsure if it was brand new when given to her, or if it was passed on & I can not ask her (missing mom moment) At any rate, my hubby & I have a few months back relocated to a much smaller house, & I lost tons of room for my many treasures, & as a result many items have been packed lovingly away in bubble wrap etc. but I can't bear the thought of them just sitting there like that with nobody to enjoy them... Therefore I have begun the task of unwrapping them & listing them little by little to find new homes for them...
This trivet measures about 6 3/4 across by 7 1/2 from top to bottom, & it has 4 legs that allow it to either sit about 1/2 inch off counter, stove or table, or it can also be hung on the wall as there is a little space at the top to accommodate a brad. This trivet is quite heavy & has been well loved & cared for across the years & is an awesome collectors piece. I was offered $150.00 for it several years ago by an antique dealer when I sold my antique highboy, but I refused at that time, & am not willing to travel back to another state to look that fellow up now...

It is heavy enough that if you wing it at somebody it would cause a pretty good concussion... cast iron, excuse my strange sense of humor, but it did kinda answer the question though... Giggle

They are very nice to have around the home, I agree, sometimes I wish I still had my big house so I could keep more of the items I love so, but it really was too much for hubby & I to keep up with after the kids all moved out on their own, what with health issues etc. People here on my auction have really touched my heart by understanding how much this has meant to me over the years... <3

Oh yes they certainly do, need a place to stick a hot pan, perfect, & I liked to place it on the table at Thanksgiving to keep hot casseroles from being against my tablecloth...
