Or....maybe he does and he's keeping the 1000 credit laptops all to himself! LOL His comment did make me giggle quite a bit. ;)

I also have plenty of camera bags, so if I win and you want to swap the book for the camera bag, that would work too. You can list the bag again ... since you already have the photos!

See if you can find the book and if I win I'll buy it from you unless you want to throw it in. Or I'll pay for the shipping, or whatever. This is for my daughter who has taken a photography class this year. We bought her a Canon EOS film camera with three lenses that should work, and I'm pretty sure that camera has autofocus too. But I'm sure she'd love to see a book of tips and tricks!

thank you mamarazzi, I could not remember if FD lenses were the same as bayonet mount lol

Natahoa IF I find the book I'll share information and the name of it but I am going to keep it :)
Today is the day to hunt down the lenses I am going to post on Listia... may find that book in the process :D

Yes I believe it is Canon's marketing plan lol Some times I wish I'd invested in Nikon... they have Image Stabilization IN the camera body!! but I luv my Canons!
Giggles I love telling ppl I am going shooting this weekend and when they ask what am I shooting I can say my Canon :) *I went out to the desert last weekend and shot it is AWESOME when it is in bloom! I remember my dad taking me to see Disney's "Living Desert" at the movies when I was young :)

Who ever gets your D10 is getting a deal and can invest in a good lens or two... that can go on the next body when they out grow the D10 back :)

Wow, I'm so excited for this auction.
I have 2 other cameras including my latest one w/c is the T2i, and I also invest in lenses.

However, everytime I want to bring mt t2i in my hike, I always gets nervous something might happen.. So if ever I win this one, I would love to bring this in more active scenario where I dont have to worry being smashed down yet take GREAT pictures.

This is a great camera for someone who would like to see through the window of Photography.

Yes, I'm that way too. I have a 5D MKII that I leave home when venturing out to parks or Disneyland, I take my backup camera instead. This way the pain of losing/breaking it won't be as harsh as if I'd lost my primary camera. lol

This camera made my heart skip a beat when I saw it listed on here!! If I get the credits in time I will DEFINITELY be bidding. This thing is so beautiful to me!! I was at the Zoo the other day and a saw a guy with this exact one and I was admiring it. I don't know a lot about photography but I would certainly love to learn, and I think this would be a great one for me to start with. Amazing listing, truly!!

Yeah, I blocked them. Doesn't really bother me, I did notice they didn't have any auctions running. Of course I'm sure they'd love to have someone "waste" credits on something they listed though. ha ha

I just want to tell you that I agree with you about the DSLR. I use to use a pretty nice pentex me super. then i picked up a $300 point and click digital and forgot about the quality i use to get. Last year I picked up an old 3.2 olympus DSLR at a yard sale, and boy, even though low pixels, it blows the pocket cams out of the water !! even silly little things like depth of field, what a difference !! i won't forget again.

This is a GREAT lil beginner DSLR camera... it is what I started on :)
*I would be interested in the battery & CF card if it does not go with this kit!

I have an extra battery & more memory cards I'm going to list tomorrow. I'm guessing you're on the 5D since you want the battery. I'm not sure if any of the other D series uses the BP-511 so I could be wrong. lol

I upgraded to the 5D 6 years ago, and last summer upgraded again to the 5D MKII. I just haven't been able to part with the 10D, it was my first digital DSLR 8 years ago and holds a spot in my heart. It saw me through many weddings back in the day. :)

We have an older Canon EOS film SLR with three lenses, I can't find the danged camera to tell you the model, but the lenses seem like standard SLR lenses. Do you think they will work on this camera?
Apr 19th, 2011 at 6:40:04 AM PDT by
Original
I couldn't tell you for sure without knowing the model of the camera. This camera takes EF lenses, not FD lenses. So just check your lenses to make sure they say EF on them.

Awesome. I just got started 1 1/2 years ago on a T1i. How many mp is this. Would it be an upgrade from the T1i? Real nice auction. Any chance you have any EF lenses you would part withCash or credits. Looking for a macro, a wide angle and one of those cool fish eye jobs.
Apr 15th, 2011 at 9:27:19 PM PDT by
Original
Definitely not an upgrade from the T1i. This is a 6.3 Megapixel camera. It's 8 years old, and though it works perfectly, I'd recommend this for someone who doesn't already own a camera, a beginner or a parent of an interested teenager who doesn't want to put down $800-$1000 on a new kit just yet.

Sorry, I don't have any lenses for sale. I invest well in them so I rarely upgrade any of those. But check ebay or your local camera store for used ones, you never know when you'll find a great deal! :)

I up graded fro my D10 to T1i and a friend gifted me his XSi... the lenses are interchangeable but the batteries and memory cards are not! For some reason I was thinking they were the same camera and I'd have two bodies lol lol silly me
You are probably right about the batteries not fitting the XSi but I know it uses the larger CompactFlash Memory cards

Keep me in mind when you want to dump your old D5 lol

*FatTony you can check on B&H Cameras they often have reconditioned/refurbished lenses
Apr 16th, 2011 at 12:03:45 AM PDT by
Original
I swear Canon does that on purpose! Well you do have two bodies, you just have to have 2 different kinds of batteries. The 5D and the 5D MKII use different batteries and a different battery grip as well. Such a pain to have to buy everything brand new! lol

You mention good for a teenager, how about an old grandmother interested in learning new tricks? Does it have to have a lens before it can me used? Are the lens that fit, specific to the model?
Apr 17th, 2011 at 1:49:25 AM PDT by
Original
Yes, also said it was good for a hobbyist. :) You will have to get a Canon EF lens for it before you can begin shooting. Your local camera shop will be able to help you in picking one out.

This camera is 8 years old. Used a lot in the first 2 years, but then used only sparingly for the last 6 years because I upgraded and kept this as a backup.

It's a 6.3 megapixel and goes up to ISO 1600.
It will need a lens before you begin using it.

Please see responses above to answer any other questions you may have.
