I listing all off my WWII VHSs and a circulated WWII nickel from 1942.

The British RAF bombed the Italian Navy at Taranto and either sank or damaged three battleships. The Japanese copied and then one upped the British and bombed Pearl Harbor.

The greatest class of US Navy destroyers ever were the Fletcher class destroyers. The Military Channel had the Fletchers ranked #5 in the greatest classes of ships and the only destroyers to make the list. the most famous of the Fletchers was DD489, the USS Johnston under Lt. Com. Ernest Evans. Evans won the Medal of Honor for his and his ship's sacrifice. The Johnston blew the bow off a heavy cruiser with torpedoes.

There were five marines and one sailor that raised the second and most iconic flag on Mount Surbachi . That iconic photograph was taken by a Joe Rosenthal. The flag being raised in the movie, Flags of Our Fathers.
