Description

The listing, Wisteria seeds (6)-Beautiful purple/lavender clusters-FREE SHIPPING!!! has ended.

Wisteria is so pretty. At the start of spring it gets dozens of flower clusters all at once then leaves unfurl gradually around the flowers. They usually hold flowers for several weeks then gradually drop petal. The plant stays green all summer and fall. I live in the desert and it gets cold enough that it is dormant in winter; but in milder climates it can keep leaves year round! Wisteria doesn't mind the heat at all and will even start to bloom before you have to start watering in spring, but if you water more often blossoms will last longer. The first 2 pictures are from my own wisteria, the others are from Ashikaga Flower park in Japan. As you can see they can be trained as a bush, to a trellis and allowed to spread out as a tree. Some of the ones in Japan are quite old but mine is about 10 years old and the trink is already about 5 inchtes around. I just let mine grow how it wants except to trim occaisionally to keep my walk clear. Hope everyone likes these :-)

All parts of this plant, especially the seeds, are poisonous

UC Davis lists this plant as minor toxicity for humans, may cause diarrhea or vomiting. There are many different types of wisteria and I'm not sure which this is. Most sources of different varieties do say seeds are poisonous. You can read about wisteria at
http:/www.eattheweeds.com/wisteria
This source lists flowers as edible. Also I have a dog, cat, and children/grandchildren none have had a problem, although they do appear uninterested so this might explain their not eating it. But I prune with no gloves or mask and have no problem that way. It is right on the walkway and hasn't bothered anyones skin, etc. The raw seeds and tubers are poison, but flowers can be eaten, also leaves and seeds when prepared properly according to the above source.
www.ancientworlds.net
Shows several medicinal uses of wisteria when plant parts are prepared properly.
Thank you for your comment and viewing my auction. I will fan and watch you :-)

I have a wisteria vine and I have shelled the seeds bare handed with no problems, and cut it back many times with no gloves and had no skin issues.
