The listing, The Encyclopedia of Superstitions has ended.
Forgetting I already had one in my library, I purchased this new, but never read it. On the bottom left (cover & a couple of the back pages) was slightly creased when I received it in the mail. This will be shipped to the winner via media mail. It takes a bit longer to receive, but is below half the cost to ship.

Trivia fans & fun fact fanatics will adore this fascinating, flickable encyclopedia of superstitions! Richard Webster presents over five hundred of the most obscure, curious, & just-plain-freaky superstitions of the Western world. From modern myths to centuries-old lore, it offers a wealth of wonderfully weird beliefs on just about every topic you can imagine.
Prolific author of more than 75 books & "noted psychic" Webster (Amulets & Talismans for Beginners, Spirit Guides & Angel Guardians, Is Your Pet Psychic?) presents a remarkably complete collection of the world's superstitions. The New Zealand writer says he's "tried to include everything that is pertinent," & as such covers certain religious material (such as St. Christopher and Wicca) that might draw ire from the faithful & others.
He has been interested in the psychic world since nine years old. As a teenager, became involved in hypnotism & later became a professional stage hypnotist. After school, worked in the publishing business & purchased a bookstore. The concept of reincarnation played a significant role in his decision to become a past-life specialist. He has also taught psychic development classes, which are based on many of his books. His first book was published in 1972, fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming an author. He is now the author of over a hundred books, & is still writing today. His best-selling books include Spirit Guides & Angel Guardians and Creative Visualization for Beginners.
