The listing, Lot of 6 West German Vintage Glass Red & Metallic Copper Striped Tear Drop Shank Back Buttons has ended.
These buttons are absolutely stunning. I purchased a larger lot of these and since I had no design idea in mind for them when I did, I decided to list some of them here for my fellow listians to use in their own designs or for the purpose of just collecting them. So here is what I know about these buttons. They were made in West Germany somewhere between the 1940's-1950's according to the lady I bought them from. My personal educated guess regarding when they were made, based on WW2, and the information regarding the war, is that these were probably made post the war, sometime in the late 1950's. They are glass, and have a shank back. They are tear drop shaped and the base color is a bright cherry red. They each contain a random striped design with metallic copper streaks running through the red base color. Each button's design and how many streaks, varies a little bit, button to button. They measure about 1/4 of an inch long in US measurements and they measure about 13mm long in metric measurements. I have taken photo's of them on both a solid black and white backgrounds. The last photo shows the buttons with a penny as a quick size reference. The penny is not included. Please review the photos as to the condition and authenticity.
