It has a gear ratio of 3 to 1 and weighs 13 .5 Oz's. Here is a little history about this reel. In 1939 DuPont which is the company that invented nylon began marketing nylon monofilament fishing line. However , braided Dacron ( which is a kind of plastic ) lines remained the most used and most popular for the next two decades. Then in the late 50's DuPont introduced Stren. Which was a much thinner monofilament line that could be used in a large amount of reels. Penn took advantage of this new type of fishing line and introduced 3 new models which all used monofilament . They were called the monofil series and numbered no. 25,26 and 27. All three models were available with either the plastic or the metal spool. The letter M was designated after the model no. To represent the metal spool. This reel is in excellent shape .
