FREE: Awesome German decorative boot stein

I found this little beauty at an estate sale and just couldn't resist. I've always loved decorative steins but it's been sitting in a box for a while because I can't figure out what I want to do with it. I'm hoping someone else can appreciate it a little more than I have so far. It's a genuine German stein, purchased in Germany a few decades ago. Pictures don't really do it justice, the detail is so lovely.

There is a small hole at the very top of the handle, as if it used to have a metal lid like most traditional steins? If you know anything about this type of antique maybe you can restore it to its former glory with a new lid. Or maybe just hang it from some rope and give it that country feel? ;)
