This Stuff is Free Too:
Description

The listing, Sega Dreamcast! has ended.

After more than 10 years, the Dreamcast community is still active!

I don't have any games, but you can scavenge them off eBay, Craigslist or check online for a LARGE number of home-brewed titles.

I've included the main console, one controller, a keyboard, mouse and the cables you need to make things work. The console model number is HT-3020 which includes a 56kbps modem.

I've included a very old version of DreamCast Linux (from the last time I was playing with this) for which I've included a screenshot. (There is a new NetBSD release for the Dreamcast from September. Apparently, there is some new activity on the )

Due to the size of this, I will probably be using UPS for shipping. As such, I'm offering free shipping within the Continental US only to places without rural surcharges. (If you live in Alaska, Hawaii or a rural location; I can ship to you, if you PayPal me the additional amount.)

Wow, what a classic!
You wouldn't happen to know if I'd experience any problems hooking this up to a newer TV (1080) do you? Through composite, perhaps?

I think that you probably good for games... I'll need to try out a newer distro for Linux/NetBSD...

My television (Sceptre 1080p) has a bunch of inputs including the right (RCA jacks - composite and stereo audio - the yellow, red and white) inputs and an "aspect" button. So, I'm able to manipulate the appearance a little bit.

The Dreamcast default screen (pictured above) is on my television in the default (widescreen) setting; it looks ok in all my television settings. The linux screen is cut-off at the bottom, so you can see the whole bottom text line. If I get a chance, I'll try the newer NetBSD distro and see if the same problem persists...

You can pickup VGA box (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcast_VGA) for the Dreamcast and get 640x480 output in a VGA connector. They currently run about $20 on eBay. (I wish I had one to list... 8^)

Best keyboard game is Typing of the Dead, which is House of the Dead where you kill zombies by typing really quickly.

Thanks - I was surprised by the interest in this and my old Playstation...

I think that the keyboard and mouse were little used accessories for those tinkering with the web browser and a few of the games. They were nearly essential for those trying to run Linux on it.

Oh dude, I just noticed, do you have the VMU for the controller?

No. Sorry, I wish I did.

Looks like you can pick one up from eBay for under $10 shipped. Perhaps someone here has one they will list... Deckard?

Well depending on how early the console was made, it can play copied games basically.

what was the manufacture date for this console?

September 1999. The model is HKT-3020. (I botched it in the description. I hope there was not an HT version.) It was made in China.

I see a "1 NTSC U", which I interpret as a region-lock, NTSC console.

Is there anything special about various versions?
